History
Armtec was founded in 1908 as Canada Ingot Iron, in Guelph, Ontario. The company supplied steel culverts to the burgeoning road-building industry. It grew over the next several decades, selling drainage products to large infrastructure and construction projects, primarily in Ontario.
In the late 1990s and into the 2000s, Armtec made a series of acquisitions. In 1998, it acquired Big O, a leading Canadian manufacturer of high-density polyethylene corrugated pipe for the infrastructure and agriculture sectors.
In 2007, Armtec expanded beyond drainage solutions with the acquisition of Con-Force, a Western Canada-based company with more than 60 years of experience in manufacturing precast concrete products.
From 2007 to 2009, Armtec added 10 new businesses, including Durisol, A.E. Concrete, Boucher Precast Concrete, Brooklin, Bruce Tile, Oxford Plastics, Groupe Tremca, Pre-Con and a portion of Burnco. All of these companies were successful businesses, recognized for their quality products and exceptional people.
